Packing up and Heading Home

WOW! The event has come and gone, and it's time to pack up our lives and head back to our families and our homes. The last few days have been bitter sweet. We're all so relieved the Grand Opening is over, yet sad to say goodbye to all of our new friends. As I've said before, this journey has been both exhilirating and exhausting. We've worked hard, and played hard... and as we say our goodbye's to Hong Kong and this experience we take with us lessons learned and experiences that will never be repeated. To those of you who supported us along the way... Thank You! To my friends here in Hong Kong who will stay behind... um Goy Sai! Thanks for all of the memories... and to my dawgs heading east and west... What a wild ride it has been.. I'll never forget Insomnia, Big Mama, and Dolphins in the Fashizal!
Now I'm off to Cambodia and Vietnam.. my last taste of Asia before heading home! See you on the East Coast!
I hope to post pictures from Grand Opening and Tony's arrival soon.

T-Minus 1

Goysan!
Little time to write. We're just a few hours away from our first event and we're all hangin' in... barely, but we're still hangin' in nonetheless. Rain plans have been tweaked, b-roll tapes completed and now all we can do is cross our fingers and hope it all goes as planned.

Had a few surprises today! Two giant "condos" (aka tech booths) built in front of our media riser for the castle concert and a 7 foot telepromter placed where our media is supposed to go. We're going on 3+ weeks without a day off. Some of us are beginning to fade. I have turned to coffee as my savior... somehow it keeps me going. I hope to have a few minutes at some point over the next few days to fill you in on all the action. We're in the final stretch.. no turning back... it's time to welcome our first guests to Hong Kong Disneyland!

"Tailor Made"... TST Shoe Lady... Ready for Anything & Igor "LanKwaiFonaski"

The end is in sight! With just 3 days to go until the event things in the office are getting more and more intersting each day as the tension continues to mount. We find joy in simple things... like the giant pile of junk food sent to us by our friends from Disneyland. Or by our "ready for anything which may comeour way" gear sported by Gary. Even a visit from our new Russian gangsta "Igor Lawnkwaifonoski" -- who is having a hard time keeping Nilsa in check!
After a long day at work, it was off to TST to blow off some steam. A quick visit to the tailor, a quick stop at th Tai Pan Spa and a visit to the Nathan Road shoe lady and it was time to head home.
Operation... "get through opening" is well underway!

Sunday night Richard, my tailor, brought his team to my flat for a Tailorware Party. About 20 people showed up... all ready to buy...buy...buy! This is going to be one sharp looking group!

OPIE TAKES OVER HONG KONG & JUST ANOTHER SUNDAY AT THE OFFICE

You're a long way from WAMI-TV Brett! Welcome to Hong Kong!
Brett arrived on Saturday night, a bit jet lagged and tired from his 23 hour journey, but his night was only just beginning. With only 12 days to see it all, and a "little" event in the way, there is no time to waste! just a few minutes after arriving at his hotel -- i showed him how to use his octopus card and dragged him on a bus and two trains to Tsim Sha Tsui (TST). We had dinner and drinks at the Intercontinental with Joyce and Derek.

Early Sunday Morning Wake-up Call:
We all boarded the 6:40am bus and headed to work... yes on a SUNDAY! 2 1/2 weeks with out a day off and we're pretty whipped. Believe it or not media don't even begin to arrive until Thursday... we'll all be dead by the 13th! Today's event, Community Chest Day -- 30 media outlets invited to cover HKDL's huge donation to local charity. It was a great cause, and here are some shots behind the magic!

GOING SUIT CRAZY!

Proof Douglas is adapting to life in Hong Kong... I can't get him out of the tailor long enough to book some custom lives!!!!!!!!!! Debbie -- he is out of control. He's asked me to charter a plane for his new wardrobe. His shoes don't match his suit.. so he makes a new suit to match his shoes!

PONCHARELLO AND PARIS HONG KONG

In the midst of all the swirling, off-lining, sidebars and running it up the flagpole... we managed to take a break for a laugh. Leanne and I scored some $5 dollar shades... mine have been dubbed "the Ponch" (CHIPS) and Leanne now walks around with a Chihuahua under her arm signing "I love Paris in the summer"
Douglas didn't want anyone to know he was here, so he's now wearing shades all day everyday. Gary and Angie just think they're a fashion statement!
